MTV EMA Nominates Yemi Alade, Davido; Leaves Fans To Pick Wizkid, Others

The 2015 awards season is heating up as Nigerian music stars battle for more plaques. This time it is the coveted MTV European Music Awards (EMA) Best African Act category nomination, with the organizers embracing fans participation in the selection. 

Nigerian stars Yemi Alade and Davido will battle it out with AKA (South Africa), and Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania).

However, MTV has left a spot open, giving music lovers across the continent the power to tweet and vote for the fifth ‘wildcard’ nominee in the category. The wild card nominees are: Wizkid (Nigeria), KO (South Africa), Stonebwoy (Ghana), Cassper Nyovest (South Africa) and DJ Arafat (Cote d’Ivoire)

Voting is open until Monday, September 1

Fans are free to pick their fifth nominee by voting on Twitter with the hashtags: #NominateWizkid, #NominateKO, #NominateStonebwoy, #NominateCassper and #NominateDJArafat.

The wildcard winners and full list of nominees in all categories will be announced on September 15.
